100% online service
Archiproject Structural Engineers provides this service remotely. Customer appointments, site visits, telephone appointments and video meetings are not included. Project information, questions, quotations, acceptance, payment and engineering deliverables are handled through the secure client portal and email.
Remote engineering scope review
Submitting an enquiry and uploading files does not automatically start design work. The plans, photographs, dimensions and project description are first reviewed for scope, complexity, suitability and completeness. Where the existing structure cannot be established reliably from the submitted information, further measurements, opening-up photographs or other evidence may be requested. If reliable information cannot be obtained remotely, the project may be declined rather than inspected on site.
Quotation and electronic acceptance
Where the project is suitable, a project-specific quotation and scope are issued through the client portal. Electronic acceptance records the project reference and acceptance time. The client should read the scope, assumptions, exclusions and fee before accepting. The project-specific quotation takes precedence over general package wording where it describes the agreed scope more precisely.
Client-supplied information
The remote service depends on the accuracy of plans, photographs, dimensions and other information supplied by the client or their builder/surveyor. Dimensions should be checked carefully before submission and again before fabrication or construction. If supplied information is incomplete, inconsistent or changes materially, engineering work may be paused and a revised fee or further information may be required.
Design service only
Unless expressly included in the written online quotation, services do not include construction, installation, fabrication, temporary works design, demolition sequencing, site supervision, site inspection or responsibility for a contractor's means and methods.
Payments
Where online payment is enabled, the client portal directs the client to a third-party hosted checkout. Payment does not expand the engineering scope beyond the electronically accepted quotation. Final consumer cancellation and refund provisions should be confirmed in the production terms before launch.
Digital delivery
Engineering calculations, drawings and other agreed deliverables are issued electronically through the secure client portal using revision-controlled document issues such as P01, P02 and P03. Each issue may include an automatically generated cover sheet. The client is responsible for providing the current issued information to Building Control, fabricators or contractors where relevant to their project, unless the specific online scope states otherwise.
Changes and revisions
Building Control comments and client design changes can be submitted through the secure portal. A response may be recorded in the portal and, where engineering documents change, a later revision may be issued. Changes to client requirements, architectural layouts, loads, spans, dimensions or information supplied after design has commenced may require a revised fee. Corrections of an error in the engineer's own agreed deliverable are not treated as client-requested variations.
Building Control and construction
Structural calculations may be prepared for submission to Building Control where included in the agreed scope. Building Control and other statutory bodies retain their own review and approval functions. Contractors remain responsible for safe construction methods, temporary stability and checking site dimensions unless those matters are expressly included in a separate written structural scope.
